You do have to know your audience really well.
  - You have to have done your homework, understand their business, understand the business issues.

You have to know your material
  - It is not just the slides, each slide should have your speaker notes literally outlined on it.

There is no substitute for practice.
  - if you can record yourself and play it back and back and look at it.
